Day 1 - The Exploring Siem Reap (The Angkor Wat Tour)
The tour begins at 8am with a visit to the iconic Angkor Wat, one of the largest temple complexes within the Angkor area. An experienced guide will explain the many forms of symbolism within the five-towered temple, pointing out many outstanding features of the classical Khmer architecture.
A traditional Khmer lunch will be served among the temple ruins within the Angkor complex.
In the afternoon, visit Angkor Thom, the capital of the vast and powerful Khmer Empire during the reign of King Jayavarman VII (AD 1181 – 1220). The tour will pass through the South Gate of Angkor Thom, famous for its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. Within this great walled city is the Bayon temple, with 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. The day will finish at Ta Prohm, the ‘Indiana Jones’ temple which has been largely overgrown by the jungle. This beautiful complex remains relatively untouched and features many impressive trees which have grown throughout the ruins.
At the end of the tour, your guide will transport you back to your hotel or to Siem Reap International Airport.
